The Colt M1911 was first introduved in 1911, and has been in service with the US military for 95 years. Although it has been replaced by the M9 Beretta in most units, the more powerful Colt is still used by many special operations units, most notably the US Marine Corps' Force Recon unit. Force Recon Colts are manufactured out of spare parts by armorers at the Marine Corps base at Quantico, Virginia.
