Iraqi insurgent groups
The toppling of Saddam Hussein''s government and the occupation of Iraq meant the rise of many splintered insurgent groups attempting to drive the Coalition forces out of the country. While these groups are generally Sunni Muslim and generally have the same goal, there are many divisions and the factions sometimes even fight each other.
Some of the Sunni groups fighting coalition forces in Iraq include:
1920 Revolution Brigades (Iraqi National Islamic Resistance)
Al-Faruq Brigades
Ansar Al-Islam
Armed Vanguards of Mohammad''s Second Army
Iraqi Resistance Brigades
Iraqi Resistance Islamic Front
Tanzim Qa''idat Al-Jihad in Bilad al-Rafidayn (Organization of Jihad''s Base in the Country of the Two Rivers)
Jaysh Muhammad
